Would it be dumb as someone trying to get into makeup to splurge on good base products? I have a darker skin tone and I honestly would rather spend the extra money for good formula and be able to try it in store.

Nothing beats prestige brand base products 😭 no matter what they say a dupe is never as good and never lasts. You actually feel like you are so much better at makeup when you have a good base to work with

When i first was getting into makeup i used everything cheap to get my skills up! Definitely splurge on things you care about most, like foundation and powders. I’d suggest blush as well. I am a ‘brownskin’ black girl and sometimes blushes make me look ashy

And other stuff like mascara, eyeliner etc. I would just by drugstore type stuff

That’s what I was thinking. Ppl you say you should practice with cheaper makeup but I notice a lot of cheaper foundations and concealers wash my out or make me look orange or just don’t have good shade ranges unfortunately

Definitely splurge on a well matching higher foundation- you could also get professionally match at Sephora or something like that- grab a tester or get the information of what they use, and then use a website to find ones in a similar color or coverage

Yeah I think I’ll just splurge on like a skin tint, concealer, and powder and everything else might be drugstore but I do like a boujee lipgloss
