as a guy it is normal our entire socialization stifles empathy any empathy we have is *in spite* of the misogyny we ingrain from an early age while our patriarchal social orders groom us into our role. some men say it’s derived from the role or having empathy is inherent to ‘being a man’ but they couldn’t be far from the truth as this doesn’t accurately engage with anything js uses anecdotes to rationalize a violent social order that we think we need to defend
^^or from unlearning and deconstructing the patriarchy that we uphold. which falls under in spite of (even if it represses us through toxic masculinity and hegemonic masculinity because shocker patriarchy is detrimental to men too but men fixate on that not to fix it/stop it but as a contrapuntal dismissal of the violent misogyny women face daily by saying “we suffer too” ok then become a feminist if patriarchy is bad oh ur still misogynistic i see 🥴)
