“When I was your age I bought a house” well Martha that house was 80k back then. You’re selling it for 600k+ SUCK. A. FAT. ONE.

my parents bought their house for $130k 20 years ago and its estimated to go for $400k+ now like there is absolutely no way that house is valued at that l, yet they are going for that all around my neighborhood

My dad told me the other day that he got a loan of just $80k to build our house, and if you could see the house it would blow your mind especially for that cost 😭 at least he’s been coming around more lately to understand how bad things are now

Martha probably got paid 4 dollars an hour though

In 2012 we moved in for 500k and sold it for more than a million in 2022. Can’t imagine rn

That included a 2 car garage, huge finished basement, 20 ft tall ceilings with custom windows in the living room, big ass kitchen and 2 dining areas, 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a laundry room, and probably more I can’t think of right now. I don’t even want to know what a mortgage on something like that would be today

I totally believe it. There are brand new basic cookie cutter houses in this development near me that were starting at close to half a million. I’m sure they’re built cheaply too because construction was FAST. I think atp in my life I just want a landlord who’s chill enough to let me do some renovations on a rental because a mortgage on a poorly built home will never be cheaper in the long run

Yes that may be true but the ratio of pay compared to the cost of things today is so drastically different than it was back then. Back then prices made sense, but now they do not. The prices of goods are skyrocketing without the pay going up with it
