If someone sees you on the apps, they have the apps too and have them set to your gender. If someone matches with you on an app, they swiped right on you too.

a lot of apps have the option to block ur contacts (basically any account whose number u have in ur contacts gets blocked) but ofc that means u have to give the app permission to view ur contacts
