I mean I’ve never had to do that bc I’ve known how to swim since I can remember but my gf grew up poor and never really learned how to swim bc where tf was she gonna learn. But now that I’m teaching her how she holds her nose bc she doesn’t have the same reflexes under water that I do bc I was taught as a child. She will get there one day but for rn I think it’s super cute lol

my biggest life hack as a kid (bc my throat won’t close with the tongue trick) was making duck lips and using my lip to cover my nose (still do it to this day btw)

I always just kinda blow a little air out my nose whenever I’m doing a little flip or something and that works, I didn’t realize your tongue could also stop water way more efficiently 😭

you can like block off ur throat with ur tongue! or i think it’s just closing the throat idk but it doesn’t like push water out tho! whenever i first go under i always exhale thru my nose a bit cuz im going down water will try to come up but once ur under and its closed off ur good as long as u don’t go upside down

before i got both my nostrils pierced i LOVED the nose clips so i could go upside down without having to put on snorkeling goggles cuz i hated those

idrk how to explain it but my tongue is also lowkey too big for my mouth so it could just be a me thing 😭 i have a friend who plugs her nose with her top lip which i can’t do at all LOL like her lip just pushes up and covers her nostrils
