So definitely don’t go back to an ex, if he cared he would’ve made the change during the relationship. With your new person I would definitely self reflect first and see if enough time has passed between the official ending of the last relationship and the beginning of this one cause despite the fact that you probably felt checked out for a while, this could still be considered a rebound which is not good
I agree with the other commenter and I also understand your situation in my own way at least and I believe you should never go back to someone who is only willing to treat you right when they’re losing you, and not when they had you. As much as it hurts, it really shows how much they respected you during the relationship. Even if they could change now, it proves that they were capable of being what you needed the whole time but didn’t think it was worth it when it mattered.
For a little more context: He was broke. Like he lived w my family for a few months broke. I excused a lot as I saw the why and how, I had also explicitly laid out free plans for him to do but then and now blames mental health- basically couldn’t overcome it for a few hours to focus and plan for me. Since then he’s got everything he needs and more. Has offered tons. I just can’t let go of the lost experiences and how we ended really badly. Split for a year and rekindled but nothing resolved.
This other guy is a very old friend from our HS and neither of us kept contact. Recently idk how it happened but it did and we’re friends- mind his is my type. He also got out a relationship. And we do have a date lined up sometime but he has long heavy work out state a lot. Then I guess I will have the opportunity to talk abt what we want from someone. And on that same line my ex has offered therapy together but can’t accept I want to be single/open starting off from nothing over a year.
