I had a friend who had all the reason to break up w her bf. Apparently they were always fighting, hes immature (hes 2 years younger so not surprising), hes kinda stupid, and she doesn’t see herself marrying him. She broke up w him, we comforted her and were gonna take her to get ice cream later. This mf went on a walk and got back together with him. The break up didn’t even last 3 hours.
Literally!!! My best friend and her boyfriend were together for three years. At first he was good and then he started getting abusive. And she just let it slide. He got her addicted to some pretty bad stuff and caused her so many problems. He would t let her get a job or car so she was fully dependent on him. She finally broke up with him but she still wants him back and still hangs out with his siblings and mom. And wants this man back like girl please, realize your worth more than him
at a certain point we need to also empathize with friends who are being mistreated, boundaries are important & I agree with communicating. but i don’t understand why friends always have to take the brunt of the emotional weight when someone is in a poor relationship & that is just expected. especially since we’re clarifying these aren’t abusive situations, just… annoying couples
it’s not “victim blaming” to acknowledge that not all relationships are forced upon you. someone choosing to go back to someone they resent, that they simply just don’t like that much anymore, who they don’t get along with, etc. is not forced upon them. quite frankly, some of my old friends WERE the awful partners. they had so much resentment toward their partner & who had to hear about it? they’re friends. but who was never there for us? her!
Your original comment accused us of having a lack of understanding and compassion when those of us venting have likely done nothing but listen and empathize with friends that have treated us poorly in return due to circumstances they have full control over (reminder, this post specifically excluded abusive situations). Of course it is upsetting.
i never said emotional abuse was okay? what a bad faith reading of my comment. and for the LAST time, yik yak is an anonymous app where people should feel free to vent about the mistreatment by their friends without being tone policed, when what we are doing is not hurting anyone, because we have made it clear we all do have empathy for abuse victims & that’s not who we are talking about 👍
But you didn’t specify that originally and now you’re just back tracking to justify your point, when originally it was YOU that missed the point completely if you’re talking about abusive situations on a post specifying that we were not talking about that. And yes I’m aware emotional manipulation exists, but it’s not the case in every shitty relationship
yes because isolating someone who you are supposed to love will solve everything, unconditional love means being annoyed with a friends decision because it’s not what you would’ve done but still sticking by them how are we supposed to have community when no one wants to give up their convenience of “self peace” 🙄
its not hating to point out that you’re going on rants to absolutely nobody. If the person you were talking to deleted the comments, then why are YOU still going? You can reply to the same exact threads you were going on and on in earlier. No need to make numerous separate ones just to repeat yourself.
if someone prioritized their awful bf over me, I’m not gonna wait at the door wagging my tail just to starve or get kicked. if the few times they bother to hang out is filled with them complaining about their bfs that they KNOW are bad for them, that’s just disrespectful and immature. it’s different for abuse, but having “unconditional love” for someone is just immature.
unconditional love means you would stay with someone even if they wanted you dead. mothers, daughters, friends, and found family can all be abusive or exploitative. and if you fr have unconditional love for your FRIENDS, then you need to grow tf up. that’s an extremely unhealthy mindset, and no shit I’m gonna judge you for behavior that could get you killed 💀
in the context where someone is being a bad friend or not prioritizing to hang out. that’s a different context, however this post’s context is about not wanting to be a friend so someone who complains about the same thing over and over (which can be about more than just a shitty boyfriend) if you’re talking from experience then that’s your own business and it’s not my place to comment on your own unique situation? but what i said is not crazy at all by any means 😭😭😭
