This is a dumb question but how can you avoid looking whitewashed as a black woman? I’m afraid I give off that vibe because of my style and hair

Nothing. Ppl think random things are whitewashed. You literally just use correct grammar and it’s seen as that 🙄

common things i see black ppl call whitewashed: straight natural hair, hair tucked behind ears, un blended makeup, voluminous hair, "nappy" hair, certain clothing brands, leave out being left out

I did but no one really replied and the one person who did just named behaviors not physical attributes that make someone look whitewashed

Could you explain the voluminous and “nappy hair one”?

black southern girls who style their straight hair with lots of volume and then girls who style their hair without products like gel, mousse, or curl cream

The volume one hurts to hear because I love big hair 😪 I wear my hair natural so I alway do twist outs and full them out with a pick bc I think it looks good

And I like the look of like pin curls and roller sets, I didn’t know ppl considered that white washed too 😪

i personally think white washed is just a state of mind and how you act. like what 3 said that doesn’t give white washed to me unless it’s those mixed with more commonly white mannerisms and dialogue

Well either way I’m thankful for the ppl who provided answers 🤷🏽‍♀️

that chat has more men than women and to be fair any can comment on what they've seen be called white washed

Sometimes I think it’s kinda silly for me to care because none of this matters in the long run. Black women are policed regardless of what they do. But I guess when you look whitewashed ppl don’t see you as a safe space for other black ppl

Can you give an example of white mannerisms?

like if ur leave out is left out and u have a valley girl accent. like in my opinion they have to be mixed in order for it to be white washed
