I’ve never had it done but remind yourself that it’s literally their job and they’re not judging you at all, they’re just trying to make sure you’re healthy. Also they see so many vaginas every day

Also the fact that a little embarrassment or discomfort is definitely worth preventing or catching cancer or other issues before they become serious

It’s definitely intimidating but what helped me was just remembering it’s just their job and they won’t ever judge you. Also they’ll talk you through it and make you comfortable as best as they can. Also you’ll have a sheet or something like that over your legs so you can’t even see them working down there. Just lie back and scroll on your phone or something else to try and take your mind off the stress

is it weird that i’m 20 and never even been to a gyno? i feel like everyone i know has, but i’ve never had problems or needed birth control, so it feels unnecessary until i need THE exam 😭

pap smears and cervical exams are very important for ur health!! i get scared too but i can at least remind myself that the doctor has seen much nastier and weirder things than my average looking vagina. just shower real good in the morning and you’ll be ok!! 🩷

And it’s okay to be nervous! You can even tell them that you’re nervous! They’ll be very understanding, I promise

although my friend who has had the Pap smear before said it’s really not that bad, just be up front that you’re anxious and they can adjust as needed. She said she really didn’t have any pain other than discomfort and the clicking of the speculum sort of threw her off but it did not hurt.
