A child should never have to wonder if they will be able to eat that day or have a roof over their head that night. No one should be denied the right of having a child but people also need to consider the responsibilities that come with having a child. As a teacher I see children who come from poverty every single day, multiple students I’ve had to buy new clothes or shoes for. There are students of mine who are in kindergarten who can’t eat lunch because they can’t afford it.
I don’t think anyone should treat poorer families as lesser than and I don’t think we should control people’s abilities to have kids. That being said, if you are absolutely certain that you do not have the means to properly care for a child it is very reckless to have a child anyways.
girl no one here is saying we should deny people food stamps and child care. in a perfect world people would have access to those things and it wouldn’t be an issue. and obviously sometimes people’s financial circumstances change and there’s varying levels of poverty. you brought up poor people for having kids, not food stamps, so that’s what i’m responding to.
No. Eugenics is a fake science used for a fake argument by classists and racists. The people here are arguing for RESPONSIBILITY, not shaming people. There are programs to help, just not enough. We also don’t live in a perfect dream world, which means poverty still exists and kids still live in it, so we need to STOP bringing children into it if it can be helped
