 in case yall are not aware but the US house voted to revoke the 20 year mining ban in the minnesota boundary waters, the boundary waters are a very gorgeous & one of the most visited wilderness areas in the nation. the vote will then move to the senate-

but by revoking this 20 year ban, it’ll be removing water protection laws. if they choose to mine, it’ll be exposing the water and wildlife to pollutants from mine runoff.

The republicans basically voted to put one of the largest reserves of freshwater directly in the path of acid mine drainage. every copper mine that has operated has failed and lead to extremely polluted water. i hate that this was not talked about anywhere.
