While I do think this law is abhorrent. Unfortunately there were some trans influencers that inspired this law to be created. Regardless of gender it is not okay to photograph/ video children in the bathroom or locker rooms. And there is an influencer that has been doing exactly that.
That’s an issue with that individual, not an entire community. Do you know how many problematic cis people there are? Why aren’t there laws targeting them? Because it’s simply about attacking a minority and nothing more. Gender doesn’t matter— awful people need addressed. This law does not help *ANYONE*.
I wasn’t saying it wasn’t an individual issue. All I was saying is that it only takes a few to ruin it for the whole. As this was already a grey area in the sense that trans people should have the right to use what ever bathroom they identify with, but cis people where already skeptical. Then you add in a few influencers that are video kids in the bathroom and locker rooms and it shuts that door for people that are actually trans.
It wasn’t a “grey area” because people using the bathrooms they’re most comfortable in doesn’t inherently harm anyone. It’s just been used to harm people by framing an entire demographic as harmful predators where that is FAR from the truth. Cis people record in bathrooms in front of the mirrors very frequently, even in stalls. They’re not given shit for it (even though I don’t think that’s okay either) in nearly the same ways. And, “people that are actually trans” is a really gross thing to say
