like how are you gonna argue with the ppl that actually live here 💀 basically my point is, anywhere outside of the city is pretty much called upstate whether it’s actually UP or not

That’s actually why I hate that it’s called upstate bc NYC is literally the lowest point of the state 😭 I can get behind it bc I’m literally western/upstate ny anyways (like I can make a quick drive to Canada just bc and we get a bunch of Canadians just bc they want to show up) but I’ll never understand the ways ppl try to differentiate between us and NYC

I’ve lived here for several years now and it still irks me. My idea of “upstate” is Adirondacks/1000 Islands area. West is Finger Lakes on, central being center and Albany, downstate being Hudson Valley and NYC/LI… but nooooooooooooo.
