posting children who aren’t yours without the permission of their parents is weird behavior. for example i would with children and take pictures for their parents and would never think to post their face on my instagram

i do children’s programming at my library and the amount of parents i’ve had act like i’m dumb for asking permission to take/post pics of their kids is so weird to me. like yes, i legally and morally have to ask…..just say yes or no 🤨

I don’t post the kids I work with, but family and friends I do.. if parents have an issue they usually speak up

i still think it’s weird to not ask first. i’d be pissed if someone just posted my child. doesn’t matter if i post their face on my own accord or not

AND i ask the child if they would like their picture taken, because i am also very tired of seeing children given zero agency and treated like objects 🫩

people also act like i’m weird for asking permission to hug a child (even my own) rather than demanding it, and i’m like hey bud actually YOURE the weird one. idc if it’s my own kid or another family member (other adults too) im not touching anyone without consent. and no one should??? it’s so important to teach kids early that they don’t have to just let people do whatever to them and idk why that’s not the norm

i was literally just about to say that. when i see my coworkers kiss (on the face but still weird)/hug the children i literally cringe
