“School didn’t teach me taxes 😡” Actually most schools provide an econ/accounting class But is an elective And most people elected to take art bc it was “easy and I don’t have to do anything”

this is crazy to me because personal finance and econ were both required to graduate from my high school

I took mine but it was an elective. My senior year of trade school was when my math teacher like was yo, time to learn about taxes, buying a house, buying a car, getting loans, credit cards, blah blah blah money and how to make meals that are good and cheap

EXACTLY. My school had a cooking class, a mechanics class, agriculture, AND medical education electives

Tbf my school didn’t have any of these or an econ/accounting class but yeah most people wouldn’t have chosen to taken them even if they did

I live in the south. We don’t focus on much in our education system besides the core classes

a semester long “personal finance” class was required at my high school, too. My gym teacher just handed us thick packets that we were supposed to fill out (the packets never got collected or graded, and we never talked about the material or anything). two days later, we went back to playing volleyball and everyone got an A. I still have no idea what a credit score or social security are
