As someone who has adhd this also pisses me off bc it’s like you can sense when it is just being performative and they want to have an excuse to act a certain way. Like yeah my adhd makes it hard to study and I forget everything but I can just tell when someone is using it as an excuse

It’s even worse when they self-diagnose and you can tell they 100% do not have those mental disorders😐

I hate when ppl say “bc of XYZ” like okay so YOU KNOW you have an issue and just aren’t taking steps to be mindful or manage yourself? Okay so you’re a shitty person and expect us to compensate for it all, great. No self work. A diagnosis isn’t doing the work FOR you, just confirms.

saw a tiktok saying adhd is what makes this girl hold her pee in mid-cleaning her room so she only goes if shes gone. adhd literally has nothing to do with that. its apart of the Zeigarnik Effect humans naturally are wired to complete tasks not interrupt them. pee = reward.

I’m AuDHD and so tired of seeing shit like that. It’s not some cute little quirk. It’s debilitating many times. 🫩 It’s an explanation, but not an excuse. We’re still responsible.

right like just admit it was u and lets move on bc this is exactly how a group hate works. one person is being performative then ppl get annoyed then they go on believing every single person w adhd is like this and they do real damage

It’s a little more intense than that, like it may start with cleaning the room, but it can escalate to cleaning the whole house and finishing when you finish cleaning the bathroom.

Not to defend people like this, but there is a mental fatigue from certain conditions. I was unmedicated for a whole year after my diagnosis and even though I spent time working on it, I still made mistakes that made me feel horrible and like a failure.

That’s valid, but I mean the people who NEVER learn. I had to leave my ex bc of something like this not just attention related. Just no work in the effort to be better or not blame it on a diagnosis every single time. For me, someone who has been told 100% I need to get tested for Autism or ADHD, I refuse bc I feel it doesn’t hinder my life, but it’s emotionally, socially, mentally draining to not hold “resentment” or have issues go unresolved beyond the levels of a relationship
