say no to ai they say but i found out my roommate talked to ai as the only person she thought would hear her about her suicidal thoughts. if she didn’t have it, she wouldve felt all alone

people using ai because they genuinely see no other option aren’t the problem imo. it’s the systems that make people feel like they NEED ai instead of talking to a person or using resources created by humans

AI helped read my 188 page explanation of benefits for my insurance in an emergency situation and deeply helped me

Ok? Glad she found comfort but generative AI is still a disease and destroying the environment and low income communities. There are suicide hotlines for a reason. Talking to a real person will always be better than AI

That’s definitely not always true for a multitude of reasons Let’s just not judge people in active psychological distress on how they go about trying to help themselves…

I agree that real people are generally better in crisis, but I’m never going to act like I’m better than someone for not using AI when SUICIDAL😭 crazy

Yeah but using your suicidal friend as a reason to defend your use of AI is extremely fucked of OP. Their friend is an outlier in AI use

What’s frustrating to me is the government using AI in a way that is making everything worse for me and everyone I work with - it makes so many errors and it’s so much effort to get them to correct it and we have no choice but to engage and you know they’re just using it more to fix it

It’s like you’re not reading what anyone else is saying. No one has said it’s bad she did that. Doesn’t excuse AI shouldn’t be used for every single task but in this instance it’s fine

yeah man that’s exactly the point i’m making. your friend is not a bad person for using ai but it would obviously be better if she had other support systems. but like others said there are suicide hotlines for this reason

OP clearly uses AI and made this post to try to have a gotcha moment
