This is horrifying. Is this what they wanted?? It’s giving beginning stages of the Holocaust. We are not learning from history. I am Jewish- don’t come at me about the comparison. One Holocaust does not mean others can’t happen.

“abolish ice” is not an extreme position. It’s the moderate position. The extreme position is “the power structures used to create ice must be completely dismantled and anyone who contributed to, funded, or had any role in ice deserves to face a nuremberg-style trial, and those found guilty should either face life in prison or the death penalty”

Nazi Germany was inspired by the US. We were founded on slavery, genocide and settler colonialism. This is what our country has always been and people are finally seeing it for what it has always been

I understand why this is all scary. A child being scared of losing their family should never be normal. I agree this shows a failure of our immigration system and how enforcement harms innocent people. That said, I think comparisons to the Holocaust can be harmful and oversimplify a very specific historical genocide. We should address this crisis seriously without using comparisons that may take away from that history.

To compare ICE deportations to the Holocaust is insane, I’m Polish Jewish, and ICE is not trying to kill every person of every race, they are removing those that do not belong here, not going after everyone else of that race, just those that are in this country illegally, and we have every right to do so because they are here illegally, which means not allowed! Not everything is about you, or needs to be compared to one of the greatest tragedies in history

I’m in a similar position but as far as i know, there aren’t any countries accepting american refugees as of now 😢 sometimes i dream about just showing up in another country and making it work with zero documents (essentially pretending I legally don’t exist) but I know it’s a dream that will never happen and it’s excruciatingly impossible (not to mention, very illegal in pretty much every country)

That seems like a way to attempt to derail OP’s point more than anything? It seems antisemitic to assume, tbh. :( But for 1, it’s absolutely wild to ask anyone this on the basis of being jewish. But I do think it’s possible for citizens to care about more than one issue at a time, also, to vet friends for politics. If that makes sense?

how many historians and holocaust survivors have to draw parallels between 30s germany and the US right now for you mfs to get it. the descent into fascism in germany didn’t happen over night and the concentration camps were never initially death camps

No one is saying history should not be studied or that warning signs should be ignored. But recognizing injustice does not require making direct Holocaust comparisons. What is happening to immigrants is wrong and inhumane on its own. We should focus on fixing a broken immigration system rather than using comparisons that oversimplify very different historical contexts.

i also hate you guys don’t think brown and black suffering is equal to white suffering. CECOT is a death camp and there is no reason for us to send people there. everyone from alcatraz is missing. it’s a known fact that nazi germany took inspiration from america’s oppression and exploitation of black people as well. hitler literally said it himself

I never said brown and Black suffering does not matter or is less important. That is not my belief. What I am saying is that deportation and genocide are not the same thing. The Holocaust was a state-led extermination of millions of people based on race. The U.S. is enforcing immigration laws, which can still be cruel, unjust, and harmful especially to children but it is not the same as systematically killing people. We can condemn harmful immigration practices without making false equivalencies

No one is denying abuse, deaths in custody, or the fear immigrants face. Those things are wrong and deserve accountability. But the Holocaust was a state-led extermination campaign. Using that comparison for everything prevents serious discussion about how to actually fix immigration policy and protect people now.

guess what, hitler’s original plan was to deport jews. he then realized after some time that it was logisitically impossible, so he killed them instead. the relating factor between the holocaust, and other genocides like the congolese genocide, native american genocide, indian forced famines that killed millions, the trans atlantic slave trade that also killed millions, and now is that all these groups were dehumanized. once you dehumanize a group, you can justify doing anything to them

LITERALLY. i’ve been ringing alarm bells since i was 10 years old in 2015 and heard the way he spoke about people while actively seeing my hispanic and latinx friends talk about the fear they had for their futures. we were in elementary school then. i’m an adult now. i don’t know how much more i can do but damnit i’ll try what i can because it hurts my heart to see over 10 years later, children still feeling how they felt and how i felt but it’s even worse.

Well, if we look at history correctly, it didn't take a day for Hitler to go full genocide, did it? There are people who have been here for decades on TPS and report back as required to keep proper documentation of legal immigration, yet they have been deported because Trump’s administration ended TPS. Almost every day now, newsletters cover stories of ICE harming people, deporting or detaining US citizens, and profiling those who “look” a certain way.

Yesterday, I watched a video taken on January 20, 2026, press conference where Brooklyn Park Police Chief Mark Bruley described ICE agents stopping off-duty officers of color in Minnesota. In one incident, agents boxed in a female U.S. citizen officer while driving, drew guns, demanded immigration papers, and knocked her phone away when she tried to record. They left only after she identified herself as police. let’s be aware that these build upon eachother. ignorance is not bliss.

It’s obvious you don’t understand what ICE actually does, you want illegals here committing crimes? Would you offer your home and money to them? Why should the whole country have to? It’s seriously an overreach to say this is like the Holocaust, ICE targets illegals, not their entire race

They aren’t detaining US citizens, those are actually allowed to be here, however, those who entered the country ILLEGALLY are not! Therefore, they can’t claim to be American citizens because they don’t have any sort of American identification! How slow are you to not understand what the word illegal means, they don’t take actual born Americans out of here

But they have been identified. There have been multiple accounts and videos of people declaring they’re American, U.S. citizens, and offering to show ID. Are we forgetting the two 17-year-old males working at Target who were arrested? (News flash: Target doesn’t hire illegal immigrants—they verify eligibility via I-9 forms.) Also, considering many immigrants pay taxes and aren’t eligible for most welfare or government assistance, what do you mean they're taking our money😂

There's a low number of immigrants committing crimes—many people who commit crimes are U.S. citizens. Another thing, who do you think Hitler got the idea from? The U.S. has been built upon the backbones of POC—Native Americans had their land stolen and killed. African Americans kidnapped and brought to the U.S.—in Africa + many other countries slavery was completely different and never lasted an entire lifetime/lineage and they got paid. The U.S. is founded off of crime and illegal possession.
