I’ve been a lifelong artist and perfectionism lowkey ruined the fun of it. I forgot that I can literally just pick up a pen and paper and make something absurd and from the heart without the intent of being the next Picasso. I’ve also found some really great methods I never would’ve thought of before just from messing around, like I recently learned how to shade and highlight with crayola markers! (As pictured)
I’m also still improving every year, so my message to you is that, although it’s a bleak outlook, you’ll never achieve the level of perfection you’re looking for. You will always find something you don’t like about your work. But other people don’t see that, it’s all in your own head. Just work on moving forward and compare your art from year to year as a reminder of how far you’ve come :)
