I’ve picked up drawing again and I have improved a lot since then but it’s not always consistent and I don’t even have an Art Style™ yet drawing is fun I love drawing my dnd characters and I wish I had more time for it

I’ve been a lifelong artist and perfectionism lowkey ruined the fun of it. I forgot that I can literally just pick up a pen and paper and make something absurd and from the heart without the intent of being the next Picasso. I’ve also found some really great methods I never would’ve thought of before just from messing around, like I recently learned how to shade and highlight with crayola markers! (As pictured)

yes i picked up digital art again and actually got my work put on merchandise for my intern job!! It was very difficult to stop trying to fix every detail I thought was “wrong”, but it feels so great to see other people wear my work! I believe in you!!!!

I’m also still improving every year, so my message to you is that, although it’s a bleak outlook, you’ll never achieve the level of perfection you’re looking for. You will always find something you don’t like about your work. But other people don’t see that, it’s all in your own head. Just work on moving forward and compare your art from year to year as a reminder of how far you’ve come :)

having one stye is overrated anyway. all of my drawings the past 2 months look wildly different cause i’m trying new things

something I’ve also done is when I find myself “perfecting” my work I switch to a new drawing usually in a more doodle style and just draw silly little guys (usually my cat)
