Hey so thanks for your analysis but im not actually commenting on OP's grammar. Every woman I know, myself included, does not appreciate being referred to as female vs woman. Given that OP posted in a community by and for women, i am informing OP that we do not like that term and giving them the term we prefer instead

First, respectfully, as a woman please don’t speak for me or anyone else just because we share ovaries. And second, the point I was trying to make was that grammatically that’s exactly how he should have worded himself. He didn’t say anything wrong. Context and grammar matter.

So glad you dont take issue with it! But if we’re going to nitpick grammar, I said “every woman I know” and the “we” that follows after is a reference to the women I know. Idk you and dont want to so I am not speaking for you!! Its not about you. Im telling OP about a preference many woman have and asking them to respect it if they are going to post in a community of women!

Lol your first use of "we" was definitely not in reference to you and the women you know, you were making a generalization about all women which is not something you can do. If you wanted to express YOUR preference for the word "woman" over "female" you would've worded your first comment differently. I know a lot of women who have no problem with the word "female" so you can't say "many women have this preference" without any concrete data to support it.

Holy shit you got the pick mes riled up w this one. You were respectful and correct, don’t let ppl convince you otherwise. There’s def a difference and reason it rubs US the wrong way, and it has nothing to do with grammar but they aren’t educated enough to understand that. the term “female” is not inherently disrespectful to women. it becomes disrespectful when it’s obvious that’s the intent behind the usage. nothing about this post is disrespectful, yall are just dumb.

Idk about you guys, but I don’t like being called “female.” It’s got this weird scientific connotation to it that feels dehumanizing, like we’re a different species or something. Idk how to describe it. Not to mention how it’s used in the incel community which raises warning flags for me. I only use it biological contexts.
