Not really defending but there isn't a real reason to keep making physical disk when everything is turning digital. Most people nowadays prefer buying a game digitally instead of spending time and gas going from store to store to find the game they want. Yeah it's a bad thing for collectors and people who like that feeling of "owning" the game but we all knew it would happen someday.

PlayStation players are the most insufferable “gamers” ever

I feel like if you pay something it belongs to you. If they lose the license to the game they can take it from you with no refund.

While I agree getting rid of physical games is bad, all they are nowadays is a key for a digital copy so it’s not like owning the physical copy will prevent them from taking the license from you. I just think it sucks cause I enjoy collecting physical media

That's so wrong, every ps5 game I own works straight out of the case, not every game is online multiplayer

There is a real reason: you are thinking too small. You benefit from physical sales even if you're exclusive to digital. Ps store has to compete with physical stores & second-hand sales. I always find the best deals on disc and I never have to pay full price or wait for a discount. Removing competition allows Ps Store to keep prices high

And when you're done with the game, you can sell it

That isn’t what I meant. The disc isn’t game ownership it’s just a key to access the game same as a virtual copy. If the developers decide to revoke ur access they can just as with digital games. Older generation consoles were different but that’s how it works now

Uhmmm Actually 🤓☝️ That’s how you sound rn Every physical ps5 disc I own works straight out of the box, no internet needed. My. WiFi was down a couple of weeks ago, but guess what I could still play my games without it, scary isn’t it ? 😟😟

Bro wtf r u talking about when did I bring up WiFi or internet being a requirement. I’m saying physical disks aren’t actual copies of games they’re just keys to access digital copies it’s not that hard of a concept to grasp

Tf are u smoking on? Crack? Most disc games work out of the box. I’m bringing up Internet because don’t you need Internet to download games? Are u slow? Every ps5 game I own works straight out of the box, no internet download needed, idk why u keep bring up something that probably only affects less than 5% of disc games
