E33 was made by a team that started with 6 people and grew to 34 by release. It was funded by $50k from Epic Games, artistic grants from the French government, and potentially the CEO’s private wealth (unconfirmed). If that’s not indie, then the word is as meaningless as the “AAA” label.

TGA has never had a set definition and they’ve also had games way less deserving of the award win it before
