Excited for next gen Nintendo games, crazy that they’ve been stuck with the same hardware limitations for over a decade since the switch is just slightly more powerful than the Wii U, not an actual next gen upgrade

The video game industry itself has become another Las Vegas where their profits really come from addiction. It corrupted the whole industry. Also many game developers don’t make their own game engines and instead lease out the same unreal engine that carries over the same bugs that span more than 10 years.

The industry has no incentive to have another renaissance period until the industry has an implosion like it did in the early 80s or government regulation coming in making addiction mechanics for adults only. Judging the pace of reform on the addiction of social media, it isn’t anytime soon.

Nintendo’s renaissance period was the late 80s and late 90s. There was another renaissance period with the Wii but it wasn’t as long nor as strong as the prior periods. Nintendo has been wondering around for too long and is at risk being bought out but Japan doesn’t allow it which is why it’s becoming a fossil in the video game industry when so many companies fell for the loot box gambling schemes masquerading as videogames.

That means true gamers have to deal with a desert like landscape with few oasis of cool games and communities within it. Gone are the days where renaissance periods formed where a gamer had many choices and communities to have fun and needing actual skill to win.
