Nintendo is in a much better financial position than Sony these days.

Pretty sure message boards like that didn’t exist in 97 💀

Easy to do when you count your warranty replacements as new sales, and your failure rate is the second-highest in major console history, only marginally worse than the RROD 360s.

They very much did. GameFAQS boards were the truth back then.

Their EBIT is less than 500mil more than Sony Interactive, it’s actively decreasing, while Sony’s is increasing.

Nintendo: stronger balance sheet-> ~80% equity, minimal interest-bearing debt, very high liquidity (current ratio ~461%). It can ride out downturns without refinancing pressure.

Sony: bigger + diversified, but lower equity (~23%) and far larger borrowings/liabilities (incl. financial-services). More engines, more obligations. Not strong.

No way. That ui looks more like 2004 or so. Source: I was there

They can update the UI later while keeping the old posts lol, the screenshot could be more recent

The screenshot itself is obviously fake. Mifflin Devin is a reference from The Office. But forums like this were all over the place in 1997. Even the most rudimentary website had its own message board courtesy of Usenet groups and ezboards. AOL boards and Yahoo Groups were thriving, too. GameFAQ still has every post visible, even the ones dating back to 1995. It’s fascinating watching people figure out Final Fantasy 7 together in real time with no multimedia internet or video interaction.
