Hard to sympathize. People have been warning that something like this would happen for years; this was bound to happen since you don’t actually own your digital copy. This is why u always buy physical disks, they can’t take away your physical media
As if the current state of gaming wasn’t enough, Sony’s disgusting actions over the last few days have shown how important plumeria really is. What’s that, you own one of these 500 movies? Well not anymore you don’t!

Avast ye scurvy cur! “Hard to sympathize” is a you problem, matey! There’s always opportunity for compassion. This isn’t a time to wag our fingers at the wee landlubbers who trusted in commerce, this is an opportunity to teach them how to sail the high seas!

Except theyre taking those away too. Look at gta6 for example, they’re selling us a box with a code in it and theres nothing we can do about it.

That’s the problem. Not all discs have the game data, and PlayStation has drm, so without their servers, you won’t be able to play your games. Maybe it will still be possible to factory reset a machine and set it up without wifi, but we are dependent on the modding scene for our preserved games to matter in the long run

Because y'all are getting way too comfortable paying for digital content instead of buying physical. Physical media is still extremely relevant in Japan and won't be leaving anytime soon; they're voting with their wallet

I was talking about movies, buying movies physically, it's simple. It sucks games don't work even if u buy the physical game, I don't agree with that

Idk who’s downvoting us, but I do think there’s sympathy to be had. If anyone bought these after 2020 for cheap, than yeah you can say they should have seen the writing on the wall, but the marketing for this stuff is purposefully deceptive. I wouldn’t blame anyone who went all in with the digital storefronts back in 2016. Even movieseverywhere was a thing. Nowadays people flock to prime or appletv, but it’s not fair to tell everyone you should have just bought physical when the warnings weren’t

Even clear. Nowadays I would hope it’s more known you are only purchasing a license for said media that can be revoked at every time, but I’ve only really seen it mentioned in the gaming scene when talking about Steam and old racing games.
