Why’d this get downvoted? 😭 I’m a big Nintendo guy until the Switch 2 dropped for this exact reason. I’m not doling out >$500 for only like 3 “worth it” games simply because it’s the ONLY console with those IPs

IMHO (I’m just some dude, so who cares) Nintendo needed a direct with a MAJOR game like months ago. The switch 2 genuinely does not have enough going for it rn to warrant the prices getting higher and higher. When the price drops to like $450 for the console and a few games then I’ll maybe consider getting it but not in the near future.

Nintendo fans suck nintendos cock so hard they just can’t accept how scummy of a company it is. Not just do they rip them off with console costs for poor performance and some of the games costs, but they pull a lot of other scummy shit like copyright strikes out the wazoo, not letting creators make content on their game, and instances like the recent one where a guy won a Pokemon tourney and stood up cheering for 5 seconds so they disqualified him and gave it to 2nd (not even exaggerating)

The thing is that used to be me. When they announced the switch 2 price and their price gouging “remasters” is when I decided to stop buying Nintendo for a while because I’m tired of paying an arm and a leg for companies that only want to make a profit instead of making a meaningful, polished, and worthwhile game. It’s to the point where I’m literally looking to host my own apps and servers for so many things because I’m tired of relying on big tech companies and dealing with their bullshit.

Also to add a little context to the tournament disqualification. The disqualification was at the judges discretion and has received a lot of backlash and is still ongoing, so while I see where you were headed, that has nothing to do with Nintendo or Pokémon and more so the officials for the tournament. Btw I fully disagree with the call. He won first fair and square, but again it’s not really on Nintendo or really Pokémon for that matter until they release a statement on it

Yall say this then worship PlayStation and Xbox like they actually have any exclusives, the only exclusive PlayStation has is Astrobot, all third party games that are coming out soon on those consoles are coming out on switch 2 as well. Which is still cheaper than both of those other consoles. I’m not a Nintendo fanboy but holy rage bait on your part for not actually doing any research. The ps5 pro is literally 900$ and steam is also upping the price on their steamdeck by 300 more dollars.

Nintendo is scummy, but I’m still a fan of their IPs. I don’t understand how that makes me a cocksucker when they have the most affordable console on the market right now. Their console also provides things the other consoles don’t, even if you don’t care for features. I’m pretty sure the origin post was downvoted because it’s misinformation. The switch 2 will not be $500 until September. Even then it’s still not $600

The attack at the games is fair. Mario Kart World did not meet $80, or even $70 expectations. I also refuse to purchase Nintendo rereleases when we used to get those for $20 as part of Nintendo select when I was a kid. That doesn’t invalidate the handful of good games that we have got, or the ability to play SW1 games at better resolutions and frame rates.

In my honest opinion, Nintendo has been screwing off the consumer since the original switch with abhorrent controller costs. They’ve also always been a pain when it comes to things like community events and emulation. I wish they were better, but that’s unfortunately how they are culturally. I don’t think it makes them evil, and I will still buy the products that I believe are worth what they are valued at.

That’s the thing. They aren’t $80 on an already $500 console worth it imo. People were already unhappy with AAA games being raised to $70 when Nintendo said “watch this” and raised Mariokart World to $80 because they could. Yeah the game got included with consoles already, but for the state it released in, it still needed quite a bit of work and post-patching features. But people will just blindly buy things simply because of the IP and that makes Nintendo think we’re okay with it sadly

Who said anything about worshipping them? I’m on PC brother. Which is unfathomably expensive but gets you everything (except Nintendo stuff because that company is greedier then PS or Xbox). Costs of everything has gone up Xbox has kept it reasonable at $600 for the series X, and is the only company providing a sub-500 option for younger gamers. I’m happy they got rid of most their exclusives and provided it for PC, even if it takes away justification for getting an Xbox
