Can’t see how PlayStation thinks this is a good idea (other than they like to shoot themselves in the foot) because by now, everyone who wants a PS5 probably already has a PS5, or they’re playing PS5 games on a PC. The few that don’t have a PS5 and want a PS5 now are probably buying them used because there’s plenty discounted used PS5 on eBay/marketplace now

Are these numbers from GameStop or something? A PS4 pro doesn’t even go for $200 on eBay rn. I should know because I’ve been trying to seek mine for like a week now. My wired rock band drum set however… easily could’ve sold that for $200 but I settled at around $150

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wouldn’t a recession make the price of luxury items decrease?

Both the PlayStation and PS2 go for under $100 in working condition. Idk the current market for a PS3 but I’d recommend later runs of the slim line that can use CFW especially. Idk what an OLED ps vita will run you but I’d rather drop the $150 on a Vita over the current market on a 3DS any day. Glad I held onto my VITA and PS3 from when I was a kid tho <3

Inflation is almost the opposite of a recession. Usually deflation happens during recessions

Yeah that’s what I was thinking lol… like yeah sure sometimes prices *can* rise during a recession, but 99.9% of the time that price rise happens to goods people need like gas or food. Luxury items like a gaming console would decrease in price lol

maybe i wasn’t completely using the term correctly, but it definitely does not refer to a time of economic prosperity

You mean the copy pasta? I’ve read it plenty, the data is skewed. The P2 number is pulled from the cheaper slim model, and the P3 is the super slim as opposed to their larger (more expensive) counterparts that were still being manufactured at the time. The P5 should read 500 instead of 650 if you’re going to compare launch to cheapest manufactured. Sony is shit for the price hike but the chart is just click farming by forcing your perspective. Also if you buy new after 6 years, you’re a chump…
