I’m probably more of the average fan. I never beat Simon, but I really enjoyed the rest of the game. I’d like to replay it at some point in the future, but I have too many games I want to get through and I can’t emulate it on my phone 😭

Damn😔 I started research on it for this and was quickly like “oh shit, this game looks pretty cool, I’ll try not to spoil too much so I can maybe play it in the future” and then I proceeded to spoil everything so I could have a more comprehensive understanding of Renoir 😭😭

Yeah… Renoir is at the center of pretty much every story beat. I really liked his character. I would still recommend playing the game unless you aren’t a fan of rpgs.

I’m not always a fan of turn-based rpgs, but if the story’s good enough I enjoy them, so I’ll wishlist it and get it when it’s on sale!

It is turned based, but the menus are fairly fluid and they have mechanics to keep you engaged during the enemy phase. It reminded me of paper Mario/mario and Luigi for some of the gameplay

No I knew it was turn based lol, I watched the trailer on the game website as a part of my research. The issue is less about it being engaging and more about the actual strategizing required for turn based rpgs. I’ll play a difficult platformer level hundreds of times to get the muscle memory down to beat it as long as I already know how to do it (reached the second c side level of Celeste), but I’m not so patient with strategy games that force me to try multiple different tactics to succeed

I would still like to give it a shot though! Again, the story seems very good and everything else about the game aside from it being a turn based rpg suits my tastes

It’s easier than Celeste 😭 if you’re struggling too much with the strategizing, I believe there are ways to make the game easier and you could also look up guides. The game is pretty generous, and your consumables for healing mid battle replenish at each checkpoint.
