If PC gaming is to survive this market, we will need to have options like the Steam machine. At least they will be available and probably semi-consistently restocked. Finding parts and/or a prebuilt is likely to get harder until at least 2028

I do wonder if the AI mania will make PC gaming into a ghetto… As it is the ghetto has been forming with loot boxes and casino like mechanics replacing fun mechanics but that was gradual over the years. AI is eating up all the memory and prices will be too high. Is this a typical cycle of any industry in time that the customers have no say.

I think about that often but I bet with improving ARM support via Steam I imagine we’ll see defunct mobile phones get repurposed as mini desktops more and more.
