a lot of people feel compelled to shit on anyone they consider weird and furries have always been a socially acceptable group to bash. the majority of these people are also homophobic, and most furries are queer. so it's not quite 1:1 but it's very close

That's part of it. Another part is that it's not really understood what furry is to the general public. A lot just think of it as a sexual, zoophilic community first; I've seen most haters claim that. Furry is so queer because I think both communities are so accepting it would just naturally happen and be the safe space for so many, but I don't think it's the main cause for our hate.

Yeah I mean the hate is def there. I've seen some religious hate saying that we're all homosexual degenerate sinners, but that all loops back around to thinking we're a mainly sexual community.
