Listen, to the downvoters, I understand that you want your friends to value you, but they’re not mind readers. If it’s not personally important to them to have all their friends clear their schedules on their birthdays, it likely won’t occur to them that it’s important to you. Communicate. And happy birthday OP
I feel like there must be something lost in communication here. I guess it’s not all that important for me to clarify, because I don’t mind if you’re angry with ME, but I’d be sad if any of my friends felt this way simply because they never told me. The reality is, I’d always celebrate with my friends if they asked, but I know people have busy schedules, so when it’s my own birthday, I just try to find a good day my group is all free.
I would assume they’d do the same or tell me a few weeks or months ahead of time if they have something planned day-of. Does that make sense? It just would seem so silly to me to clear my schedule on a bunch of random Tuesdays and Thursdays when I know my friends would be more likely to want to celebrate over the weekend. Even if their birthday fell on a Saturday, some of my friends don’t really enjoy celebrating their birthdays. People are different. we can’t know what everyone wants.
