Ok so I’m gay and never had guy friends, but now I do. It’s a small group of us and I enjoy the group. They are the only friends I have currently but I feel like I don’t fit in. We have been friends for a few years now, (continued)

I try to join calls, play games when I can, etc. but a lot of times I just sit there quiet because I feel I don’t relate to them, have the same interests, and things like that. I try to be more open and participate more but I feel I’m not clicking with them or I’m the one left out often. I could be over thinking things but idk

It’s easy to feel like the odd man out in any friend group. Friends are still friends though and they are very hard to find. Maybe invite your friends into your world or host an event to help you better connect. It’ll also show that you care about them/ the group. Plus you might learn that you have more in common with them than you think. Hope this helps!

I feel you, it’s hard to feel like the odd one out in a group. What kind of advice are you looking for in regards to this situation though? Are you wanting to find ways to fit in better? Ways to try and introduce them to things you’re interested in? Or something else? Just checking before I try and help :)

I guess any advice I can get lol. It’s kinda a post for advice/ to rant. I know making other friends is an option too but that’s out of the question rn. So I’m open to any advice

Gotcha, I understand. Honestly, if you really want to try and make this friend group work, I’d try to make an effort to get into the things they’re into, to make it easier to relate to them and have things to talk about. It’s not exactly the same situation, but I’m a more introverted, nerdy guy who joined a frat my freshman year for friends. I didn’t know anything about sports or the videogames they were into, and I felt like the odd one out, but things got better…

… when I made myself learn about that stuff, like learning the rules of football and stuff, so I could relate with them better. But I can understand not wanting to force yourself into hobbies or anything you’re not already interested in. My next piece of advice then would be to try and introduce some of them to things you’re into that you think they’d enjoy. You don’t have to force it, but maybe if you gave me an example of something you think would work, I would be happy to help you navigate it

I’ve got more, but I don’t wanna overwhelm you all at once. Let me know what you think so far
