Not sure you want advice because it seems like your mind may be made up, but in the current climate people tend to assume the worst or misuse certain terms. In many definitions, zionism doesn’t directly correlate to “I hate Palestinians” or even “I want Palestinians out of my country / I don’t want them to have a place to live”. In most cases people who are Zionist are simply fighting for the right for Jews to have a place they can call home, and sometimes specifically referring to Israel.
Yes but it’s a big problem when that home comes at the cost of other peoples homes. Not to mention the fact that Israelis and illegal settlers within the West Bank have committed a disproportionate amount of crimes against Palestinians than Palestinians have to them. There is no question that there are first and second class citizens, with Palestinians being treated as immigrants in their own country. (1/2)
My friend defending Zionism to me, as a Palestinian, in this current climate is not the right place or time. She is allowed to have her own opinions, but I never once asked her for her thoughts on Zionism, she just began to defend it which anyone could argue is a bit inappropriate.
