Sheโs literally stated as such many times fam. Literally declining Medals of Freedom and refusing to endorse politicians for years on end. Her political life was private to her apart from support of LGBT communities and her own support for literacy.

You donโt have to side with any political group to serve your community. Though you might be more likely to support one party doing so.

Like I said, politically charged.
She set up organizations to help because she wanted to help and felt connected to such a community. This wasnโt based on politics but her own personal experience.
