sometimes it feels like people who like f/f the most make it their whole personality or act like it makes them better than people who like m/m or het ships. not saying they’re evil or anything it’s just something i’m noticing

I’m ngl as somebody who is an equal opportunity shipper, I understand where f/f people are coming from but they are totally going about it in the wrong way. I think the thing is that while yes a lot of people fetishize m/m, touting f/f as “purer” is just as sexist. There are definitely biases in how series can be about female main characters but the most popular ships will be male, an there’s also a conversation to be had about how most female characters are genuinely worse written than male.

i’m empathetic too bc i feel like you have to fight more as someone who prefers f/f but sometimes it comes off as performative like enjoying f/f more is the most feminist option? or maybe i’m being too critical, i think i am

Also, tons of fujoshis are lesbians or otherwise queer women, so just reducing it to “cishet women are misogynists” is not true. I have just given up on western media for f/f and only look for it in anime. I really don’t like how most female characters are written and I find more compelling relationships in series where all the characters are female. Still feel like male series get to be more mature while female are less high stakes, but it is what it is.
