okay listen nonlinear story telling is fun in theory but I cannot for the life of me get into actually reading a story like that. Like i can’t keep my mental movie going when the setting is constantly changing so then i just lose interest.

for me it depends, most fics i’ve read have done it well and in a way that adds tension and/or conveys just how split across time and memory these characters feel with each other, but yea when done poorly it can come across as very choppy and anticlimactic

I like it the first time, but it has no re-readability for me

I hope people know what I mean abt mental movie, it’s like where you’re imagining the story in your head while reading. Sometimes I get so sucked into it that I forget that I’m actually reading words. But without the mental images, I can’t get into a story at all.
