Being someone who can’t stand omegaverse is SO hard sometimes. There are so many really good looking fics out there that just so happen to be omegaverse 😭 Like I wish I could look past it so I could enjoy these awesome stories but I can’t 😔

some can be good but by that I mean the ones that are kinda a critique on society and aren’t just let’s just make porn with two dudes but it’s straight because one now has a hole

explains why my mom eats the published straight omegaverse shit up apparently (I accidentally saw her ‘continue reading’ and ‘from serieses you read’ while on amazon looking for something else, for someone so puritanical she reads some freaky stuff from what these books sound like)

When I run out of fics, usually I end up caving and reading the omegaverse stuff. I’ll tell you now, 9/10 it’s an Alpha being biologically stronger and dominant, and needing to mate with an omega. You start to realize there’s a lot of similarities between omega struggles and women in patriarchal societies. A lot of these fics romanticize oppression and the characters lack bodily autonomy.

If you want to read one’s that are a bit different. Read the ones that are alpha/alpha or omega/omega. These fics usually can’t follow the guidelines that alpha/omega have set because in omegaverse society these relationships are considered taboo. So, there’s a bit more self awareness and substance.

ugh yeah I hate the ones like that, and then when the alpha is just like super possessive and then the omega is immediately submissive just awful I did read one once that was kinda a different take on it? looking at it in like a nature vs nurture lens but also pointing out the differences in how society treats alphas/omegas and weirdly fucked with it even though it was an alpha/omega type fic (actually it was alpha/beta/omega technically too)

Some of my fave omegaverse fics are two dude that are alphas but it’s frowned upon and they have to navigate all the usual homophobia with ✨extra✨ bullshit.

That’s fair. If you’re interested try the non-traditional Alpha/Beta/Omega tags those usually come with more worldbuilding and such that alway gave a different vibe. At least for me anyway. Might still not be perfect those cuz those still have their own sex bits sometimes
