Guys how do I stop caring about hits and feeling disappointed when my story doesn’t get as popular as I hoped it would be? I know it’s a very toxic mentality and am trying to break it

Write something so unbelievably self indulgent that it doesn’t matter if anyone else likes it

my first fic didn't get as much attention as i would have liked, but i try to remind myself that even if one person enjoyed then ive done my part as a creator in fandom

I’ll be honest I just don’t look. I do. Or let myself look. If I get the kudos email?? Immediately delete it. Not looking at that, I don’t need to know. It doesn’t matter. I think it’s easier for me bc I’m writing rarepairs in dying fandoms, so I don’t expect much in the first place.

but tbh it did help that i got a comment on that fic from someone who enjoyed it. i've been riding that high since and have been more motivated to create, even if im the only one enjoying what i make
