That guy who went on tiktok to complain about people who were telling him to properly tag his fic is killing me. No way you’re complaining about an archive being an archive and then pretending you’re in the right.

Telling an author to properly tag is one of the only acceptable forms of criticism for fanfiction imo. Like you can write whatever tf you want but only if you properly warn people what they’re getting into so they can decide if they want to read or not. I guess you can’t force someone to tag correctly but it’s proper courtesy (or fanfic etiquette, I guess?) to tag correctly.

idk what this is about, but was he tagging his fic *incorrectly* or not adding tags that people wanted him to? bc while i obv prefer people add relevant tags, it’s also not required to do so

It absolutely is required unfortunately, it’s in the rules

i don’t disagree, but it’s not against the ToS. i filter out the “chose not to use archive warnings” but like for things that aren’t included in ratings, yeah it’s def annoying

oh I know, there are very very few things that are actually against the rules. Most ‘rules’ that people follow are just etiquette 🤷‍♀️

but I do think this is one of the few things people have a right to make a fuss about, even if it’s not an official rule
