I’m pretty awkward so maybe don’t trust me but is just say “hey, I don’t mean to be a bother, but could you add X tag? It would help me find/filter out this fic. Thank you!!”

It’s not concrit if is genuinely something that should be tagged tbh, it’s respecting the readers and utilizing the system properly.

Talk about the fic. If you care enough to tell the author they should tag something, write a normal comment about how you really like the fic first. Then, at the bottom of that comment, go “hey, I noticed you didn’t tag X, is there a reason it’s not tagged?” If you don’t like the fic enough to write a normal comment about it, it’ll come off as really really rude to just say “hey I want this tag added”.

Source: I did this once and it was fine, I’ve seen other authors I like complain about people who just comment “add x tag” because it feels entitled if you don’t like the fic enough to comment normally.
