Went to the ‘Ask Men’ yikyak to ask a question for my fanfiction. Turns out the men there are NOT cool with fanfiction. Lesson learned, next time I won’t tell them why I’m asking.

Thank you OP for letting me word vomit song recs. If you don’t like any of them, feel free to omit them. It’s a subjective list

His favorite band being Dio, one can assume that his favorites subgenres are probably classic and thrash. However, one can make an argument that all subgenres of metal are “heavy.” Onto the songs! (2/2)

What music dudes like in general? It really varies based on the individual. What characters were you thinking about?

yeah I know it varies a lot but I was just looking for ideas. This is extremely revealing since I literally posted abt this fic but it’s steve harrington except he’s from 2025 😭

Oh!! The time travel one?? I still think Steve would like dad rock from the 80s. It just fits him so well. Check out some Journey deep cuts, Def Leppard, Huey Lewis and the News, John Mellencamp, etc

In my ST fic, I imagined him also loving Queen and Wham! Canonically, I know he also likes Bob Seger (as per a S2 scene) I’m an 80s nerd and have been since before ST came out. Let me look through my big 80s playlist and give you some hidden gems to help along

I don’t think Steve would go heavier than hard rock, but he may listen to some hair bands from time to time (hence the Def Leppard, Poison, and Whitesnake). He definitely would have a more pop music taste than I do, (I’m more like Eddie lol), so sprinkle in some Michael Jackson and Madonna as needed

Okay so in metalhead culture, one can only place a patch or a pin on their battle jacket after they’ve seen them in concert. Based on Eddie’s jacket, we know his favorite band is Dio (because that’s the big patch on the back) and that he’s seen Judas Priest, Accept, Mercyful Fate, W.A.S.P., Iron Maiden, Motörhead, and Megadeth. That gives us (and someone pls correct me if I’m wrong) classic, thrash, punk, heavy, and hair/glam metal. Based on the bands on his vest, playing Puppetz, and (1/2)

So, that’s a good mix of metal songs for our dear ol Eddie boy. But, I must tell you a trade secret from a metalhead… There’s always at least one song or group that’s inexplicably NOT metal that we go feral for. Pick something out for him, like a guilty pleasure, that he would die of embarrassment if Steve or Dustin found out he liked
