Just got jump scared by a seven chapters and 256k words. HOW LONG ARE THOSE CHAPTERS????

i did the math and roughly 36,000 words on average there’s actually one fic i’ve read (and am currently waiting on an update for) that has longass chapters like that shorter than those (mostly) but still near 30,000 word chapters

Last time I saw a word count to chapter ratio like that it was the most unnecessarily dense fic I’d ever try to read. They spelled out the abbreviation for SHIELD and was listing the specs of every character’s gun. I made it two chapters and can’t remember the plot because the descriptions were so lengthy.

oh yeah, they just haven’t updated since last summer 😭 I follow them on tumblr and they’re actively working on the next chapter, but like i get it, I take forever to update too and my chapters are usually only around 5-10k

Holy moly… Yeah I wrote some of my chapters long toward the end because I was trying to emulate ST4 episode lengths getting longer toward the end bc the fic was a season retelling. Now I wonder if 20k words for one of the chapters was too much
