someone just commented on my fic “I’ve been crossing my fingers for an update…” when I just posted the first chapter four days ago and said that I would update bi-weekly in the authors notes. like i’m flattered but damn, i do have a life!

I haven’t updated my fic in three years (Ao3 curse got me multiple times). They read on my schedule, I don’t update on theirs.

yeah my response was similar to “I’m glad you’re enjoying my story so far! Fortunately you only have to wait another week for a chapter, as I mentioned I will post bi-weekly” LOL

Maybe they thought bi-weekly was 2x a week

maybe. but tbh they should know what bi-weekly means when they’re a registered user on ao3

It says they’ve been a member since November 2015 on their profile

Okay but also how many people actually use the word bi-weekly?

Or did they actually read the author’s notes I skip over them a lot

A lot? Like everyone I know. Why are you defending an impatient AO3 rando that i’m not all that seriously upset about

It says it twice. Before the fic and after the fic in the fic notes.

I’ve never really seen it I like to try to give people the benefit of the doubt

that’s a good thing, but this wasn’t a serious bash. it was a light hearted post and i continued disputing the many reasons you gave to defend them and you kept on going. it made a funny thing not funny. now i’m annoyed at you, but mostly because you’ve “never really seen” the word bi-weekly and don’t read author notes on AO3. you’re like the type of customer to ask me where the bathroom is when the sign is right in front of you, you just refuse to read signs

Dude all I was doing was trying to find a reason through discussion. I wasn’t trying to harsh your mellow. I read a lot of old fics and the authors notes are often outdated/unimportant so I could see that being true for other people. You don’t have to insult me because I was trying to make something less annoying.

I don’t see how having an acc correlates to knowing your definition of bi-weekly, but ppl do use it to mean twice a week as well
