Ppl complaining about AO3/fanfic not being “niche” anymore pmo. Like, do new people not know how to act in these spaces? Sure, but neither did you once upon a time. And this is coming from someone who started reading fanfic at 10. It’s pick me behavior fr

Lowkey I agree but I haven’t wanted to say it. “Fans these days don’t know how to act” I remember years ago when my favorite writer got enough death threats that she straight up left the fandom forever. She STILL gets death threats. Shit hasn’t changed and there have always been shitty people in fandom

And yk damn well these people will blame the currents spike on HR. fanfic has always had “spikes” of “normies” when a fandom gets popular. Some ppl simply can’t handle not being able to look down on “normies” anymore

I kinda see both sides tbh bc while I know that this is just the cycle and how it always goes, as a HR fan it is pretty frustrating to be automatically lumped in with a loud minority when most of the fandom (especially creators) is super chill and creative!!

ESPECIALLY recently with all of the cishet women loving HR but being disgusted by the wlw in bridgerton- Queer joy should be celebrated for EVERYONE, not just when you think it’s hot

See, I can get on board with this, but I’m specifically talking about fanfic. I’ve noticed that the legitimately fetishizing/hating WLW HR “fans” tend to stay away from fanfic😅
