1. Turning off the comments is childish 2. People are allowed to filter what they enjoy 3. No one is berating the authors here 4. Not everyone can write and it’s frustrating when people act like they can

I agree except for 4. The vast majority of people in our society can write, and should write because they can. Anyone who has an excuse otherwise is just stubborn and refuses to be creative.

Can write coherent words sure but not good fanfic. To string a plot together in a way that makes sense and is enjoyable to read is difficult and we shouldn’t act like it’s as easy as picking up a pen

Do you believe all art is worthless unless it was made by a master?

One of my favorite fanfics of all time is a story clearly written by a teenage girl in the early-mid 2010s for a fandom that has been dead for over a decade. It’s filled with plot holes and was never even finished. “Bad” writing is still a contribution, and somebody will still love it, maybe much more than you ever imagined. Pick up the pen.

Writing is a skill. Plotting is another skill. Fight scenes is a different skill. No one who writes rn could just like… write, yanno? We all practiced. We all started with shitty half finished drafts. I’m not gonna shame people who don’t write, but it is a little frustrating to see it treated like some natural talent rather than something I worked for and LOVE. Also, it’s fun! Like genuinely it’s really fun and there’s no bar for entry, try it

Something about how it’s immature/childish to only read completed work
