it only really makes sense to me when the pov character is supposed to not understand so in that case the reader is also left not understanding unless they speak more languages than the character/use a translating tool

YES like just put it in italics if it’s a full convo to indicate a different language !!!!!

I read this one fic that (no joke) constantly switched between THREE languages other than English and I had to put it down cause it was too much to translate
