The fandom you post in, what ship it’s for, and the timing are all huge factors in the stats. The biggest is the fandom cus in my experience posting in an old or dead fandom vs. an active fandom makes a world of difference. Seems obvious but it wasn’t to me until I saw the difference in real time after posting. The stats REALLY aren’t indicative of your skill as an author. Just write and post what you like.
thank you. and you’re right. i write because i enjoy it. i hadn’t even really given stats a second thought until she slid into my dms with a random mean comment about how they were pretty bad for two weeks on the site. it surprised me bc she’s always been so sweet and i didn’t know why she felt the need to point it out. she’s older than me and has been on the site for longer so i thought she would add on some advice but she didn’t 😭 it was weird. your comment made me feel better though, ty!
yeah, you’re right. and i hope that the kudos to hits ratio is because people are returning often to read the new chapters and only could leave kudos once. andddd i’m also hoping that once the fic is completed, it will get more traction. but no matter how good or bad the engagement is, i will enjoy writing and continue on until my fic is completed😚
