the most filters I typically use is to get like the ship I want or if I want to read crossovers to only get those occasionally, if a ship pisses me off enough and is in way too many fics, i’ll exclude it

If I find an interesting tag I’ll click on it and scroll until I find something I think is worth reading

Depends on the fandom for me. I’m in a couple where there’s only so many fics and I’ve read most of those so no need to filter. If it’s a big fandom like spn, I filter heavily because I can be picky

I like to do this sometimes, I’ll just go to a fandom or ship and scroll through the stories and read the summaries, tags, check the rating, etc. sometimes I don’t like the sound of anything and other times I’ll click on things to try them out on a whim, and either end up not liking it or really enjoying it! it’s like going to a library and instead of beelining for the section you want you browse the others on the way, since you could find something you never thought you’d like before! tis fun!

If it’s a small fandom, it’s not really needed tbh. I use it, but the tiny fandoms don’t need filtering when you get ten new fics a year at best.
