just use their names, it’s less repetitive imo than using epithets all the time, thats what most published books do actually (use names and/or pronouns)

I love transing my favs as an agender person but I can only do that so many times til people don’t know which they/them I’m talking about 😔💔 But the current struggle is a polycule with three guys and I don’t know how to please the masses…

tbh characteristics in fanfic take me out of the story so fast, especially with fantasy hair colors and such. it may feel repetitive to use just names and pronouns, but that’s just how it is sometimes 🤷‍♀️ you can try formatting differently to break up large blocks of action that require you to refer to multiple people in a short span of time. the breaks can help readers visualize narrative shifts better. also try and let context do the work if possible

its not that annoying to have repetitive names. i instantly get taken out of a fic if it says something like, “the taller man,” “the brunette” ughhh its so bad. it’s the same with “said” vs a bunch of alternatives. 90% of the time just say said. the reader’s brain will skip over it.

Do both lol, alternate every few sentences between just name and descriptors so neither feel overused
