Disney signing that OpenAi deal is absolute dogshit. Real fans take the time to make real content with their own two hands and brain. No damn bot can replace that.

On another note, AO3 has made attempts to prevent Gen AI bots from scraping the data, the same cannot be said for other social media sites. Some sites such as Tumblr allow you to turn on a setting that is “supposed” to prevent third party data scraping. Unfortunately Gen AI bots data scraping is not 100% preventable, but it can definitely be hindered.

My main concern (besides the environmental factors of course) is what this deal will do to copyright laws. Disney is an absolute terror towards copyright laws and terrorizes anyone who makes fan content. The OpenAi deal is certainly gong to be a pain in the ass for everyone :/
